I don't hate yaoi. I mean, I like some male/male action myself, and I have several slash pairings I love.
However: I am so fucking sick of running into fangirls who claim that just because they read manga with guys kissing and copious amounts of slash fanfiction that they are suddenly big gay rights activists. Ecspecially since they show their true colors when they complain about how unappealing lesbians are or how they couldn't stand seeing (insert two less-than attractive male characters here) together because it isn't 'hot'. (Couple that with some crazy hetero-normativity and rampant self-loathing misogyny, and you have a fandom that I can't stomach for more than five minutes.)
Look, if you read it because it turns you on, that's fine. Just admit it and go on. But please, don't go around claiming that you're an ultra-progressive gay rights activist because of it. If you were, you wouldn't have a problem with two women in love, let alone two guys who don't fit your definition of pretty.
I opened this stamp thinking it was another anti-yaoi and/or anti-gay stamp, because I have a bad habit of opening things that I don't agree with... ( I usually don't comment on them though. ) However, after reading the description, I realize what you are trying to get across and I agree.
Not only do I see people having issues with lesbians and the guys being "pretty" enough, I've also seen people complain about age. I understand it a little bit more when it comes down to porn or something like that, because that's just a matter of preference in entertainment, but as you said, don't act like you're an activist if you're going to say "I support gay rights, but only if they're two guys/girls and are attractive" and actually mean it. Because that's not the same thing.
I TOTALY get what u say- that how me and one of mai friends are with another friend- when she see two gay guys together she all like "omg thats so cute" but when its two girls she gets discusted and runs away- then we yell at her cuz shes totaly contradicting herself. i happily support both sides~ ^_^ so anyways like the stamp ^_^v

I hate that too. A lot fangirls think that being pro-yaoi is being a gay rights activist. I support gay rights and all, and I have gay friends, but I totally despise yaoi. It's sad how hypocritical fans can be.

I don't like yaoi or yuri, so I must be a homophobe and hate gays/lesbians. I have a fan character, so I must be an annoying Mary-sue. Choose your sterotype.
Reminds me of the south park episode where suddenly every male in the town was wearing the same fashions and going to the same bars as the 'gay men' in the show. Yaoi isn't a bandwagon you hop on. I like yaoi and I write it, but I don't do it for trend's sake. Only because I like the art form and enjoy it as a means of self expression.

I definitely agree with you on this. It's the same vice-versa. Most of the time when I mention I don't like yaoi, fangirls automatically accuse me of being anti-gay. Yaoi usually doesn't bother me unless someone just sticks someone else's characters with each other because it's "hot". In my mind that's abusing that person's character(s) because that wasn't how the person made the character to be.
Sorry for the mini-rant, I just very strongly agree with you, and am happy that you made this stamp.
